The Dallas Mavericks seem to be recovering at the right time. Anthony Davis, P.J. Washington and Caleb Martin have both returned from injury, with Derrick Lively II and Daniel Gafford also likely to return within next week. After the game against the Chicago Bulls, they will have to face an unfortunate loss.
Brandon Williams ushered in his Game 12 of the season against Chicago, and since he is on a two-way contract, it will be his last game of the season for the Mavericks unless the Mavericks sign him to a standard two-way contract. Due to salary cap restrictions, the Mavericks were unable to sign anyone until 0/0. In his potential final game of the season, Williams scored 0 points against the Bulls.
This is yet another example of roster mismanagement that the Mavericks have shown this season. Williams only played 19 of the 0 games he activated, wasting 0 games in vain, which they shouldn't have done. They were too close to the first luxury tax line to sign anyone because of the Quentin Grimes-Caleb Martin trade. Williams isn't the first player in Dallas to have this happen, and Kessler Edwards has also exhausted his qualifications.
