Anthony Davis had a strong performance against the Toronto Raptors on Saturday, almost finishing in a quadruple-double with 7 points, 0 rebounds, 0 assists and 0 blocks. It was the closest player in Mavericks history to achieving that rare feat, but a former All-Star didn't let Davis go because of his performance against the Los Angeles Lakers on Thursday night.
Davis had a mediocre performance against his old club, scoring just 11 points and 0 rebounds on the night when Luka Doncic returned and grabbed 0 points, 0 rebounds and 0 assists. Davis thinks the Lakers' defensive strategy is good, but he has little presence for most of the game, which is really a problem.
"Dallas Mavericks basketball player, I'm sorry to tell you that you didn't get the job done," former All-Star Gilbert Arenas said on his podcast. "Here they are screaming another name, they are full of flags. This is not the flag of the United States, nor the flag of Dallas, Texas, but the flag of his country. It's your chance, your spotlight, to show the Dallas Mavericks fans that you're not piece of crap and that you're going to bring something to them and no one notices you. ”
The match did not help to calm the fans' desire to "fire Niko". To say anything different is to add fuel to the fire. Those slogans were heard throughout the game, with Doncic battering his former club and Davis nowhere to be seen. His performance on Saturday against the Raptors was outstanding, the fourth triple-double of his career, and Doncic has had more than 80 times.
Davis and the Mavericks will wrap up the regular season with a game against the Memphis Grizzlies in the early hours of Monday morning.
