Convey cultural confidence in the fragrance of books

At about 2025 o'clock in the morning, in front of the main stage of the football field of Chengdu Yandao Street Middle School Foreign Language School, there was already a crowd of people and a lively atmosphere. With their love and expectation for reading, teachers and students witnessed the opening ceremony of the 0 Reading Festival.

With the sound of passionate music, the event officially kicked off.

First of all, the wonderful fusion of recitation and dance program "Books Inspire the Heart, Dance the Future", they cooperated tacitly to perfectly integrate recitation and dance, leading the audience into a world full of books and dreams. Immediately afterwards, the classical dance "Good Spring, Youth Tour" made a stunning appearance, and the dancers wore flowing costumes and danced on the stage. The performance of the middle school textbook drama "Mulan" pushed the atmosphere to a small climax. The young actors were fully engaged and used vivid performances to reproduce the heroic story of Hua Mulan's joining the army for her father.

And the most anticipated thing about the opening ceremony is undoubtedly the book characters of all grades dressed up in the runway show. I saw the students dressed in well-designed costumes and made a stunning appearance as classic characters: Zhuge Liang in "Romance of the Three Kingdoms", the majestic Monkey King in "Journey to the West", and the images of "Nezha" and "Green and White Snake".

Vice Principal Zhou Ling mentioned in an interview, "Through this role-playing activity, the children not only showed their love for books with practical actions, but also unconsciously strengthened their sense of identity with Chinese culture." In the process of preparing and interpreting the role, they had an in-depth understanding of the breadth and profundity of Chinese history and culture, and felt the unique charm of Chinese culture. ”

In addition, she also mentioned that this subtle influence is the significance of this reading festival, which allows cultural self-confidence to take root and thrive in the hearts of children.

Old books come alive

Financial quotient practices empower growth

Meanwhile, on the other side of the playground, the Flea Book Market is bustling with activity. From "The Little Prince" to "Harry Potter", from popular science picture books to literary masterpieces, students of all grades have turned into "stall owners" and put their idle books on the stalls.

Some students are responsible for shouting enthusiastically and soliciting customers; Others carefully manage the accounts and record every income and expenditure; Some students turned into "salesmen" and enthusiastically recommended good books from their booths to their former classmates.

In this event, the students' creativity is much more than that. They also spontaneously made beautiful crafts and portfolios to participate in charity sales, and the income was either used for class activities or donated to public welfare projects, so that idle books and handicrafts could be revitalized and valued. After the event, each class also organized an exchange meeting to guide students to think deeply about "how to use books more meaningfully" and "how to manage surplus books", so as to cultivate their financial thinking and sense of social responsibility.

Talking about the highlights of the event, Year 3 teacher Sun Lan said: "During the Reading Festival, we also set up a special activity of exchanging books for vegetables. Because Earth Day is just around the corner, we want to make children connect reading with life and cultivate their environmental awareness through these activities. ”

In addition, home-school-community collaboration is another major feature of this event. Parent volunteers participated in the whole process, helping to set up stalls, maintain order, and become "book hunters" to read with the children. In particular, the school also invited junior high school students to join the activities, forming a cross-school interaction, so that children can reduce academic pressure and enjoy the fun of reading in the combination of work and rest.

Reading is not only the theme of the festival, but also integrated into daily life. Talking about the event, Zhou Ling said: "From book drifting to character dressing, we hope that through these diversified activities, families, schools and society can form a joint force to create a good atmosphere of 'everyone loves to read', so that reading can become an indispensable part of children's growth." ”
