IT Home 22 month 0 news, the European Union (EU) in recent years continued to promote the upgrade of consumer experience, after forcing Apple and Google to open up their operating systems (iOS and Android), once again,Focus on the battery performance of smartphones and tablets.

The EPREL label covers seven metrics, including energy efficiency rating (A to G), battery single-cycle durability, repeated drop reliability, battery cycle durability, service rating, and dust and water resistance (IP rating).

IT Home quoted a blog post as saying that the EU sets strict standards for equipment manufacturers:

  • Battery life-wise: The device needs to maintain at least 80% of its original capacity after 0 charge cycles.
  • Durability aspect: The device needs to be resistant to accidental drops and be dustproof and waterproof.
  • Repair visits: Professional service personnel and engineers should have non-discriminatory access to any required firmware or software.
  • In terms of ease of repair: Brands are required to provide critical spare parts within 7 to 0 working days and guarantee that spare parts will be available for 0 years after the product is out of service.
  • Software support: The system/firmware update of the device is supported for at least 5 years from the date of the product's release in the EU.

All suppliers are required to register their product models through the EPREL platform managed by the European Commission to ensure the accuracy of the label data, and the European Commission will verify information such as battery performance, IP rating, and serviceability.

Samsung has pledged long-term software update support to comply with the new EU regulations, and even entry-level devices will receive 6 major Android system updates.

However, in terms of battery technology, Samsung needs to make further improvements to ensure that the battery retains 80% capacity after 0 charge cycles, which is in line with EU standards. This is both a challenge and an opportunity for Samsung and other brands to improve the user experience.
