Tracing Shangzhuang: The cultural and educational inheritance of Hu Shi's hometown
Stepping into Shangzhuang Town, Jixi County, Xuancheng City, this thousand-year-old village surrounded by mountains has won the reputation of "Little Shanghai" because of its prosperity in commerce and trade. The former residence of Hu Shi is quietly located here, carrying a heavy cultural memory.
Hu Shi's former residence is located at No. 28 Shi Road, Shangzhuang Village, and the typical Hui architectural style comes into view: small green tiles are lined up one after another, the horse-head wall is scattered, and the terrazzo brick carved gatehouse is simple and elegant. Walking into the former residence, the layout of the patio and the transfer building is neat and well-preserved.
In the afternoon, we will come to Shijia Village, as a famous historical and cultural village in China, Shijia Village is famous for its unique chessboard-like layout. Walking into the village, the lanes are crisscrossed like lines on a chessboard, the ancient houses of the Hui school are scattered, and every brick carving and woodcarving embodies the painstaking efforts and wisdom of the craftsmen.
The well-preserved ancestral hall has witnessed the rise and fall of the family; The ancient wells have nourished generations of villagers. They silently tell the tradition of Huizhou merchants "Jia and good Confucianism", highlighting the unique charm of Huizhou culture.

Yixian Lansheng: a new artistic scene at the foot of the Yellow Mountain
Located in Yixian County, Huangshan Chinese Painting and Calligraphy Town has cleverly used the strange landscape of Huangshan to create an art park integrating calligraphy and painting creation, exhibition and research. The traditional Hui style architecture with pink walls and tiles and the modern art exhibition hall complement each other, where traditional Hui ink techniques and avant-garde modern ink experiments collide passionately.
In the park, visitors can not only appreciate the classic works of famous calligraphers and painters at close range, feel the charm of art, but also experience the intangible cultural heritage skills of Huizhou, appreciate the breadth and profundity of traditional culture in practice, and truly experience the innovative concept of "art activating the countryside".
From the former residence of Hu Shi to dig deep into the cultural context, to the Huangshan calligraphy and painting town to explore innovative expression, Huizhou culture continues to move forward on the road of inheritance and innovation. As Mr. Hu Shi said, "strive to be a camel", this ancient land is inviting the world to appreciate its profound historical heritage and the new charm of the times with an open attitude of embracing all rivers.
