Huawei's latest patent can reduce the protrusion of the periscope lens of mobile phones

Today, blogger @xleaks7 broke the news that the U.S. Patent Office approved a Huawei patent last month.

It is understood that Huawei proposes to adjust the distance between the camera assembly and the sensor by driving the motor, maintaining the slim design of the mobile phone while improving the zoom performance of the telephoto lens.

While a similar effect can be achieved with a traditional periscope lens, it requires the use of prisms and mirrors, which can lead to an increase in the thickness of the phone. Huawei's patent, on the other hand, provides a higher quality telephoto camera without sacrificing a slim design.

Another effect of Huawei's patent is that it can reduce the protrusion of the mobile phone lens, after all, in recent years, various manufacturers have been very fierce in mobile phone images, such as one-inch outsoles, double periscope lenses, etc., breaking the design aesthetics of the early lens and the fuselage.

If Huawei mass-produces this technology, it may push the industry to a new paradigm of "ultra-thin + physical zoom", forcing other manufacturers to abandon the prism solution and adopt a similar mechanical drive design. However, frequent movement of the lens pack driven by the motor can lead to mechanical wear and tear, which can affect focusing accuracy in the long term.
