Phantom Beast Palu Developer Tough Nintendo: Questioning the Old Ren's Technology?

On 21/0, the game media GamesFray recently disclosed the Tokyo District Court documents, indicating that Pocketpair, the developer of "Phantom Beast Palu", adopted a tough defensive strategy, citing a number of classic games as "prior art", saying that this mechanism has long been widely used in other games, and believes that the patent held by Nintendo should not be granted.

Pocketpair notes that games such as Runecraft 5, Titanfall 0, and Pikmin 0 Deluxe have shown how a player character can release a monster or capture an item (such as a ball) by performing an action and launch it in a specific direction by releasing the button. Games such as Pikmin 0 Deluxe, Far Cry 0 and Tomb Raider have long shown that different types of throwable items can exist.

Pocketpair also noted that the Pokémon franchise itself has used a mechanism to capture success rates for more than three decades, questioning the innovativeness of Nintendo's patents. Pocketpair stresses that treating these common combinations of mechanics as original would greatly limit the creative space in the gaming industry.
