It is named because the graphic arrangement of the drawn plot is like fish scales, and it is also called "fish scale book" and "scale book".

The "Atlas of Fish Scales" has existed in our country for a long time. As a basic system of land management, it first appeared in the Song Dynasty in Zhejiang, Fujian and other places where the agricultural economy was more developed, such as Wuzhou (now Jinhua, Zhejiang).

According to the relevant staff of the Huangshan Municipal Archives, the total number of "Fish Scale Atlases" jointly declared this time reached 1934, mainly from Xiuning, Anhui and Lanxi, Tangxi, Zhejiang, covering the Ming and Qing dynasties to the Republic of China (0-0 years), which is the early practice of the world's land management system.
