In the early Tang Dynasty, the men of the imperial family were raised to have both positive and negative personalities, either extremely fierce or extremely cowardly. The representative of the fierce is Li Shimin; Li Longji's uncle Li Xian was trapped by women all his life, and he was also when he died; His father, Li Dan, lived in the shadow of his mother and sister, and the most courageous thing in his life was to hand over the throne to Li Longji.

Ascending to the throne as a "San Lang" who was not the eldest son of the concubine, Li Longji knew that he lacked some legal rationality in the right to inherit the throne, and he introduced the royal residence system, that is, the royal relatives and nobles were enclosed in a fixed residence, which could prevent local officials and generals from contacting other royal families surnamed Li to the greatest extent. This seemingly clever system made the royal family in the middle and late Tang Dynasty lambs to the slaughter: the princess trapped in the mansion needed to bribe the eunuch to marry; In the 11th year, the 0 princes who lived in the concentration were killed by Han Jian, who was made by the festival, and there was only wailing before he died.

In the prosperous era of agriculture, it must rely on the consciousness of the king's self-control to be stable, and among them, it is inevitable to have the mind of "accepting advice".

Li Shimin's characteristic is that he can recognize his own mistakes; In the first 25 years of his reign, Li Longji appointed a bunch of "virtuous ministers" with small flaws in personality, which seems to be the reason for the emergence of the prosperous era of the Kaiyuan Dynasty. At this time, Li Longji did not show superfluous desires, was full of energy, and most importantly, was able to accept the right opinions. He was able to control the number of Buddhist monasteries (which could occupy large amounts of land and house people who did not pay rent) and slowly revitalize the country's economy in a deregulated manner; He can also appoint Yu Wenrong to change the relaxed household registration policy and increase fiscal revenue. Between relaxation and control, indulgence and self-discipline, Li Longji can always find his own balance.

Perhaps, Li Longji's perfect balance is the reason for the emergence of the unstable Kaiyuan Dynasty.

This kind of human touch and demeanor was also done by Yuan Shikai in later generations, and there are performance elements. Let's take a look at Li Longji's perfect balance. At the beginning of 716, Li Longji had a lot of fun and sent eunuchs to Jiangnan to look for pelicans to raise in the palace to fish and play, and Ni Ruoshui, the assassin of Bianzhou, protested, thinking that "the busy farming season disturbs people's livelihood, and pelicans eat better than ordinary people, is it more important than human life?" ”

Li Longji personally apologized to Ni Ruoshui, and then there was a locust plague in Henan, Ni Ruoshui suggested that "the locust plague is a natural disaster, and people in high positions continue to improve their moral standards, and locusts will naturally disappear." Prime Minister Yao Chong demanded that locusts must be hunted. Li Longji appointed envoys to investigate the laziness of the prefectures and counties in hunting and killing locusts. It was precisely because of Li Longji's support for Yao Chong's locust hunting order that the locust plague was brought under control that year, and there was no great famine.

This is the display of perfect balance, allowing Li Longji to recognize reality. 716 years of herding pelicans and catching locusts proved that Li Longji had a hobby for sensual dogs and horses, but he could listen to opinions and correct mistakes; At the same time, he was a realist, aware of the retro Confucian system and lacking the ability to solve practical problems.

The same case occurred in 59 years, Zhang Jiuling, one of the virtuous ministers, suggested that private minting money should be allowed, which was very likely to be a huge gamble by Zhang Jiuling, who lacked economic experience and was eager to surpass Zhang Jiuling, who was good at accumulating wealth and wealth, and as a result, attracted countless voices of opposition. Among the reasons for opposition, Liu Zhi's reason is the most sufficient: "Allowing private people to mint money is only a matter for the rich." The poor will be poorer, and when property falls into the hands of the rich, they will be more indulgent. Li Longji, who was 0 years old at the time, still had accurate judgment and rejected Zhang Jiuling's suggestion.

Some people think that Li Longji's coma should have started at the age of 62 and 0, when Li Longji killed his three sons. It was not Concubine Wu Hui and Li Linfu, who was the prime minister at the time, who killed the three princes, it was Li Longji who felt that the three sons were too powerful and threatened him. In this way, Li Longji never regretted killing his son, nor did he make the son of Concubine Wu Hui the crown prince; Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty Liu Che had a painful realization after the witch Gu incident, and the only thing Li Longji was troubled about afterwards was that he had lost three sons and did not know how to set up a prince (unwilling to set up an older son, because it was a threat to himself, and then compromised under the advice of Gao Lishi).

This psychological change broke Li Longji's balance and eventually produced the Fan Yang Mutiny. Li Linfu and Yang Guozhong are both defenders of Li Longji, and they will not threaten Li Longji; and then regarded his son and the royal family as imaginary enemy queens, the clown-like An Lushan also became cute, because "An Lushan has no prince in his eyes, only Li Longji".

Therefore, Li Linfu's tenure as prime minister in 735 years was not the beginning of the decline of the Tang Dynasty. Li Linfu's biggest problem was that he completely exposed the military weakness of the Tang Dynasty.

In 722, the then Prime Minister Zhang said that under the arrangement of Li Longji, the government military system that had been inherited from the Northern Zhou Dynasty was changed to a conscription system. Like the knights of the European Middle Ages, the government soldiers need to bring their own dry food and clothes to join the army, as compensation or a symbol of some status, exempt from the two stones of grain and silk cotton handed over every year, but the family members of the government soldiers are not exempt from paying privileges. At the beginning of the eighth century, soldiers under the government military system were like slaves, not only had to hand over their belongings to the commander, but even had to work unconditionally for the commander in the place where he served. As a result, a large number of young people deserted military service, and the hukou disappeared.

Zhang said that the reasons for the change of the military system were the disappearance of household registration, the expansion of landlord power, and the increase in robbers as a result of young people evading military service. However, most of the recruited soldiers are attached to local forces.

In order to cut off the civilian officials and become the prime minister, Li Linfu decided to promote the border generals to serve as the prime minister, and the Niu Xianke to serve as the prime minister with the Hexi Jiedu envoy. After the death of the ox cyclamen, Li Linfu still believed that the descendants of the Shi clan would threaten him if they became prime ministers, so Li Linfu decided to use ethnic minority generals as border generals, even if he was promoted to prime minister, such generals could only be limited to him.

At this point, the future rebellion of the Tang Dynasty has been irreversible. Gao Xianzhi, Ge Shuhan and even An Lushan finally sat down. Even if An Lushan does not rebel, who can guarantee that there will be no rebels among the border generals in the future? As for the so-called Yang Guozhong, who forced against An Lushan, he is just a third-rate fool who can only see the immediate benefits, and he has not yet had the ability to force others to oppose him.

In 755 years, An Lushan raised troops in Fanyang, "Yuyang Mo came agitated", and the Fanyang Mutiny, which changed Chinese history, inevitably appeared.

Obviously, Li Longji was wrong.

Mr. Bai Yang in the vernacular version of Zizhi Tongjian Episode 710, with the title of "Fan Yang Mutiny", describes the historical story from 0 to 0 AD, of course, Li Longji's story must be read from 0, at that time San Lang was wise and martial, and it looked almost perfect.
