About 18 years ago, it was opened to the public as the first museum in China to feature the theme of bamboo slips. At that time, Jian Mu was still regarded as an "unpopular school", and there were few visitors.
Time passes, and "unpopular" becomes "popular". In 2024 years, the Changsha Bamboo Slips Museum received nearly one million visitors, a record high. In the shop window, the slips that have undergone careful cleaning, decolorization, dehydration and other restoration and protection processes tell the audience about the social features of the Western Han Dynasty, the Eastern Han Dynasty, the Three Kingdoms and other historical periods.
Jane, one of the most important writing carriers of the ancient Chinese before the invention of paper, is slender and elongated as "Jane", and the wide and thick ones are "Simple". The content includes official documents, personal letters, book transcripts, etc. Through the excavation and protection of experts, people can "see" the true and rich history through the information recorded in the slips, such as taxes, household registration, laws, tuntian, and letters.
据不完全统计,我国迄今共出土简牍超过30万枚。其中长沙累计出土简牍数量占全国出土简牍总量的三分之一以上,是中国出土简牍最多的城市。
Why is the unpopular not cold, and how can the unpopular continue? A few days ago, Ma Daizhong, director of the Changsha Bamboo Slips Museum, was interviewed by a reporter from Xinhua News Agency.
Reporter: What are the main collections of the Changsha Bamboo Slips Museum?
Through these slips, we can see a clearer and more vivid Changsha of the Three Kingdoms, which greatly enriches people's understanding of the history of the Three Kingdoms period.
记者:阔别十年后重返博物馆并担任馆长,您感受到哪些变化?
Ma Daizhong: I am very happy to see that the slips that carry the heavy historical and cultural memories have gradually become a popular topic in the academic circles from the early days when no one knew or asked, and it has also attracted more and more attention from ordinary audiences.
We have made significant progress in conservation and archaeological research. Completed the scientific and technological protection and sorting of Wu Jian, and has published a series of monographs with 4000 volumes and 0 volumes; Establish a standard process for digital protection, complete the archiving of 0 cultural relics and the infrared scanning of 0 slips, and realize the leap from empirical to scientific cultural relics protection; With the blessing of constantly upgrading scientific and technological means, more than 0 characters have been screened out, and the handwriting that was once invisible to the naked eye has been restored......
Behind these changes is the attention and support of departments at all levels, the increasing cultural needs of the people, and the persistence of protection, sorting, and researchers on the cold bench day after day.
Reporter: Compared with bronze, gold and silver artifacts and other cultural relics, the appearance of the slips is ordinary, the content is obscure, and it is not attractive enough to ordinary audiences. How to make more people willing to approach Jianmu?
Ma Daizhong: Indeed, unlike other cultural relics, it needs to use excellent narrative techniques to present the content in a story-like and episodic way, so that the audience can better accept it.
In recent years, we have been experimenting with new ways of expression. For example, the AR social education picture book "The World of Wu Jian" was developed, so that Jian Jian could reach the audience digitally; launched various social and educational activities, inviting everyone to experience the production of slips and serve as a docent; Launched the "Book Brief Tour in Changsha" cultural and museum theme tour, connecting Changsha Wuyi Square and other simple land in the form of Citywalk......
But we know that we are not doing enough. In the face of massive research results, how to summarize and tell a good story in a more innovative and interactive way is the biggest topic for us in the future.
We hope that visitors to the museum will not only see the appearance of the bamboo slips through the display case, but also empathize with the ancestors who lived on this land in ancient times, and feel a sense of pride in Changsha, a famous historical and cultural city.
Reporter: During the National People's Congress and the National People's Congress this year, the Hunan delegation submitted a proposal on the establishment of a "China Bamboo Slip Center" in Hunan. What do you think of this suggestion?
Ma Daizhong: This suggestion has received extensive attention from the domestic scholars of simple silk and silk, and reflects Hunan's initiative and action in the protection and utilization of cultural heritage.
The number of bamboo slips unearthed in Hunan is huge, and the sequence of the times is complete and the content is rich. Over the years, our museum, Hunan Provincial Institute of Cultural Relics and Archaeology, Changsha Institute of Cultural Relics and Archaeology and other cultural and museum institutions have accumulated rich experience in conservation research.
In the next step, we will actively integrate the city's bamboo slip resources, cooperate with cultural and museum institutions, universities, scientific research institutions, etc. inside and outside the province, establish a database of bamboo slip resources, and further enhance the influence of the bamboo slips.
At present, we are promoting the overall quality improvement and transformation of the museum, and the basic display in the museum will also usher in a comprehensive upgrade. Year 30 is the 0th anniversary of the discovery of Wu Jian in Zoumalou, and we plan to launch a boutique exhibition at that time to present the research results over the years in a more vivid narrative way. At the same time, through the linkage of nearby historical landmarks in Changsha such as Tianxin Pavilion and Baisha Ancient Well, the "Bamboo Slip Cultural Area" will be created, and the words on the Bamboo Slip will be brought to life through "culture + tourism" and "culture + technology".
